The Birth of the Handmaids of the House of God

The establishment of the Handmaids of the House of God (also known as Ancillae Domus Dei, popularly called by the local folks as ADD Sisters, and Domus Dei Sisters) was motivated by the consideration of two pastoral facts: First, the urgent need of the faithful in remote areas for pastoral care, particularly their instruction in the basics of the Catholic faith in which they were baptized; second, the realization of the inability of the parish priests and other Church workers to provide pastoral care due to pastoral demands of parochial service. His Excellency, Most Rev. Nicolas Mondejar, D. D., invited various religious institutes to come to the Diocese, but without much success. He then came to the conclusion that the indicated solution was to establish a local religious group of women. For this reason, he recruited eleven young women from Romblon to form the nucleus of this religious group. On February 7, 1978, this small community began its journey of unfolding the gift of the Trinity to the Local Church in Romblon.

Handmaids' Life in Mission

Our mission consists in making Christ present in the world and permeating it with Christian values through witnessing. We strive to be more conformed to Christ so that we will be more present and active in the world.
We participate in the three-fold function of Christ and the vast mission of the Church for the salvation of the world by proclaiming the Good News to all people with preferential option for the poor especially in the remotest area and in places where the Church is less established. Thus, we provide catechetical services, formation of lay ministers and formation of Basic Ecclessial Communities.
Our missinary contribution to the Church is to witness a life given totally to God and to our brothers and sisters in imitation of Jesus Christ who, out of love for humanity, made himself a servant. We are to manifest unity between self-evangelization and witness, between interior renewal and apostolic fervor, between being and acting, showing the dynamism that arises always from the first element of each of these pairs (Vita Consecrata)
As Handmaids, we love, serve and enrich the Church, the "House of God" by our consecration, fraternal life, and apostolic activities. We make it a point that we have the spirit of availabilty, joy and simplicity to accept an assignment even in the remotest area.
Inspired by the apostolic mission of first disciples, we too are sent by two's where each one functions according to her aptitude and abilities in different areas of our charism, in order to be more effective in our ministry provided all are working together harmoniously. We endeavor to make loving and caring choices and decisions for the people to whom we are working with and through our community.

The Poverty of the Handmaids

The Handmaids of the House of God live in Evangelical Poverty in giving witness to the Kingdom of God by living a simple lifestyle, and by being contented with what is necessary to live to make us free in serving the people, even in the remotest and most deprived areas. by seeking first the Kingdom of God, everything is given to us.(Mt 6:33)
Our poverty proclaims that God is our only real treasure. it is the expression of our total gift of self to the Trinitarian God. We follow the poor Christ, though he is rich, yet made himself poor (2 Cor 8:9).
By our poverty, we pose as a challenge to the materialistic values of the world. Renewed by our simplicity and sacrificial love for the poor, we live the spirit of sharing and responsible stewardship of God-given treasures. Thus, we promote to conserve and develop the earth's resources for the earth is also the "House of God", in order to maintain the balance of nature and witness to the love of God that flows in all creation.
We detach our hearts and minds from everything that hinders us from loving Jesus in order to follow Him more closely and serve Him more zealously.

Dedicated to You

This goes to all who have found their real friend somewhere out there, and to all those who are still searching, may you find that someone who really treasure you for who and what you are.
Glad You are My Friend
You are God’s loving creature
Very Kind, loyal and true
So generous and industrious
And intelligent too.
You are not short of many stories
So challenging, interesting and funny
Just the way you are today
makes me fonder of you  already.
You are unique in every way
My friend you’re extraordinary
God’s sunshine who comes my way
To challenge, appease and delight me from day to day.

Love yourself just the way you are

I have this favorite song I learned when I was young, I usually sing this when I am happy, and during those moments which I am in my lowest  ebb,  It is a song of affirmation by Jai Josefs;  it helped me to  learn to console myself when I needed it most and want to share this to those somewhere out there who have felt real love inside their selves.

I Love Myself Just the Way I Am
A Song of Affirmation by Jai Josefs
Audio Clip
I love myself the way I am,
There's nothing I want to change.
I'll always be the perfect me,
There's nothing to rearrange.
I'm beautiful and capable of being the best me I can,
And I love myself, just the way I am.
I love you just the way you are,
There's nothing you need to do.
When I see the love inside myself,
It's easy to love you.
Behind your fears, your rage and tears,
I see your shining star.
And I love you, just the way you are.
I love the world the way it is,
And I can really see.
That all the things I judge are done
By people just like me.
So 'til the birth of peace on earth
That only love can bring,
I'll help it grow by loving everything.
.I love myself the way i am,
And still I want to grow,
'Cause change outside can only come
When deep inside I know,
I'm beautiful and capable of being the best me I can,
And I love myself, just the way I am.
